The fertilization inside greenhouses is one of the basic and necessary processes for the success of the cultivation process, and therefore many are keen to understand the principles and correct methods of fertilization.. There are also two types of fertilizers; They are natural organic fertilizers, and chemical fertilizers made in laboratories..

Learn about indoor irrigation systems

Fertilization Systems

Fertilizers – in general – are a group of nutrients for plants, and the purpose of their use in agricultural processes, whether traditional or modern; It is to improve the quality of the crops produced.

Currently, farmers worldwide use large amounts of fertilizer annually.

Even, world agricultural production has increased by a quarter due to the use of these fertilizers.

Had it not been for the adoption of fertilization systems in agricultural lands, it would have required the use of larger agricultural areas and a greater number of workers, to obtain the same productive quantity.

Types of fertilizers

There are two types of fertilizers that can be relied upon within farms:

Natural Fertilizer (Organic)

They are fertilizers that are made from different materials, including animal manure, some plant materials, animal dung, and waste from packing stores..etc.

These fertilizers require large amounts of application to obtain good results, and their cost may be higher than chemical fertilizers.

It also contributes to the disposal of some waste that has no other uses.

Chemical Fertilizer

This includes three basic elements; These are nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium

Chemical fertilizers also include some micro-elements, such as iron, boron, copper, zinc, manganese, etc.

Indoor Fertilization

whatever type of compost will be used inside the greenhouse; It must be thawed separately, before being put into the composter.

The aim is to prevent any impurities from being deposited inside the irrigation network, which could lead to clogging of the filter or drippers.

Types of fertilizers used in the greenhouse

As for the types of fertilizers that are commonly used inside greenhouses; They are as follows:

Nitrogen

It is one of the most common fertilizers that are added to irrigation water, as it dissolves quickly and does not cause any damage to the water.

Phosphorous

Phosphorous fertilizers tend to precipitate in irrigation water, especially those containing calcium ions.

This leads to clogging of the drippers, and consequently, a disruption in the distribution of irrigation water to all plants.

Potassium

As for potassium fertilizer, care must be taken to dissolve it well in water, and use clear of it.

The fertilization process (fertilization through irrigation)

The fertilization process refers to the addition of fertilizers, in a balanced manner and in limited quantities, directly to the irrigation water.

Observation has a number of advantages; Including the regular distribution of fertilizers in the root area, and saving part of the energy and labor needed to distribute the fertilizers.

In addition to reducing environmental pollution, and soil compaction, as a result of the use of fertilizer addition equipment, which is carried on agricultural tractors.

With this, we have clarified the methods and elements of fertilization used in agriculture in general, and inside greenhouses in particular. that some species; Like nitrogen and phosphorous, they can be found in multiple forms within fertilizers, each with its own advantages and uses.
