to this end &#8211; to support the agricultural sector, including the cultivation of greenhouses.<\/li>\r\n<li>Cultivation in greenhouses inside the Kingdom began more than 30 years ago, until this type of cultivation became able to provide self-sufficiency in some crops.<\/li>\r\n<li>For example, the Kingdom has reached high rates of self-sufficiency in tomatoes, cucumbers and okra.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><p><strong>Greenhouse loans<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The efforts of the Saudi government were not limited to increasing the cultivated area of \u200b\u200bfruits and vegetables by establishing greenhouses; It also endeavored to implement and support greenhouse projects, establishing at least 15,000 homes.<\/li>\r\n<li>Government officials have emphasized the state&#8217;s ability to achieve self-sufficiency in some crops, such as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, okra, lettuce, and eggplant.<\/li>\r\n<li>The UAE has also been keen, as part of its plan to achieve food security, to support specialized research centers and sustainable agriculture.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dismissal_of_90_of_imports\"><\/span><strong>Dismissal of 90% of imports<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>After years of working on two levels: establishing greenhouses, and supporting agricultural research centers, the country was able to reach positive results.<\/li>\r\n<li>These efforts have already resulted in the provision of a large amount of agricultural crops and the achievement of self-sufficiency in them, until the government announced in 2020 that it would achieve food security by more than 90%.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.albayan.ae\/economy\/local-market\/2020-08-03-1.3927958\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">60% self-sufficiency in Abu Dhabi<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<p>In addition to the Saudi and Emirati models;
